About our facilitators:

Neeta Sharma, Recruiter

Having recruited Project Mangers and other IT professionals for many firms  in Toronto, Neeta Sharma is delighted to conduct a follow up presentation for the PMI catered to Contract and Permanent IT Project Managers.

Neeta is currently recruiting for the CPP Investment Board.  Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, Neeta has worked for TEKsystems, BCE Inc., and the Business Development Bank of Canada. Being an active PMI member and working in recruiting on the corporate and agency side, Neeta has noticed many recurring questions from experienced Project Managers regarding their job search and would like to address them in her presentation.

Joining Neeta will be Clayton Magnus who has over 7 years of IT recruitment experience in the GTA and John Chafin who has been working across North America for over 10 years in various IT recruiting and leadership roles.

Presentation synopsis:

In a follow up to her presentation “Project Management: A Recruiter’s Perspective” which took place last year, Neeta Sharma is happy to present  “How to Market Yourself to Corporate and Agency Recruiters.”  The presentation will be followed by a 30 minute panel discussion where the  audience can address specific questions related to their job search.

John Chafin and Clayton Magnus will join Neeta after her presentation to answer audience questions.  Contents of the presentation include how do put together an effective and marketable key word friendly resume, how to work with top IT recruiters, how to choose projects, and avoid common problems during your job search.  Recognizing that recruiting varies from firm to firm, Neeta would like to address key characteristics that get your foot in the door while the panel members will share valuable industry statistics and experiences they have faced over through their recruiting careers.

Situational Coaching Program – Fall 2008 Session

Ever wish you had a private coach when you needed one, to help you through the difficult challenges you face managing projects? And wouldn’t more get done in less time, and increase your skill level as you go? Well, at GTISLIG, we are introducing a ‘situational coaching program’ to fill this need.

What is this program?

The Situational Coaching Program is designed to help project managers manage through the difficult parts of their projects with more skill and less wasted time.  Participants with expertise in certain skills and/or areas of project management (‘coaches’) will coach others seeking input (‘recipients’) to:

• Work through a current problem in the management of a project
• Solidify a specific skill in the area focused on above, so it can be applied in any situation (the mature skill phase of the above point);
• Take any aspect of their project management practice at a higher level of mastery

Why Join the Program?

Recipients

• Get a current issue resolved with a coach
• Get more done in less time
• Fast forward your project management skills
• Increase your competencies
• Get to know other IT Project Managers
• Earn PDU credits - 10

Coaches
• Share wisdom and enable meaningful results in someone’s PM skills
• Get to know other IT Project Managers
• Contribute to a leading edge body of best practices in IT project management
• Earn PDU credits - 10

How it Works

• Commit to 1 program, 2 programs held per year. You can return as often as you like
• Cost - $ 75.00 for PMI Members and $ 85.00 for non-PMI Members
Next Program starts on September 23, 2008
