The
Role of the Management Coach
(Catch them before they crash)
As a management consultant, I’ve
been called in to dig out process problems, and deploy
solutions. Too many times I’ve seen young enthusiastic
managers scrabbling, juggling multiple fires, only to be
left alone and crash.
Many of these managers are promoted
based on their non management successes.
Senior managers interpret enthusiasm and success
as being management capability. The manager is thrown
into the fire, with little to no training. After many
successes, these new managers are now failing.
Discourage, they leave the field, never to return.
Talent lost.
Root causes to this type of
symptoms are not the incapability the new manager, but
that of the manager was not supported, trained, coached
and mentored into the position.
